Intense Pulse Light
Also known as a photo facial, uses an intense pulse light to gently remove sun damage, age spots, broken capillaries, and redness on the face, chest and hands. It is a non-ablative procedure, which generally takes about 30 minutes, with little to no downtime. Typically clients will see the best results after 3-5 IPL treatments.
Q: Do I need a Laser Genesis or an IPL?
A: An IPL (Intense Pulse Light) targets age spots and dark spots (hyper-pigmentation on the skin). Typically only one treatment is necessary.
A Laser Genesis reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while reducing the size of pores in the skin. Typically 4-6 treatments are necessary for optimal results.
Q: What are the side effects of an IPL and how long will it take?
A: IPL treatments generally take about 30 minutes. Normally immediately after an IPL you will have some redness, and within the days to follow the areas that were targeted will start to darken, then they will naturally shed off (think kind of like a scab–but not that bad). Some patients will need a series of IPLs where others just need one or two. What you can expect to achieve from an IPL photo facial is that your skin tone will even out and texture will be improved, and areas of redness or blotchiness decrease. IPL photo facials are great for Rosacea and can reduce the appearance of it by 80-90% when doing a series of treatments, but it is not a treatment for Rosacea and it cannot prevent future sun damage.
