IPL

What Is An IPL?

IPL is an intense pulsed light treatment that can treat sun damage, freckles, age spots, rosacea, melasma, or wrinkles. The laser is used by releasing different wavelengths of light, similar to the flash of a photo, to penetrate down to the dermis layer of your skin without harming the surface. Cells absorb the light energy and convert it to heat to remove the unwanted pigment.

 What Does The IPL Address?

We use our Lumenis M22 for Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments to help restore a youthful appearance back into the skin. This laser allows the technician options of different strengths and wavelengths tailored to reducing the appearance of broken capillaries, age spots, and sun spots. IPL treatments can be done on the face, hands, chest and neck.

Also known as a photo facial, the treatment uses an intense pulsed light to gently remove sun damage, age spots, broken capillaries, and redness on the face, chest and hands. It is a non-ablative procedure, which generally takes about 30 minutes, with little to no downtime. Typically clients will see the best results after 3-5 IPL treatments.

Common Treatment Areas Include:

Face

Chest

Legs

Hands

Neck

Broken Capilaries

Invest in the tone and texture of your skin, because your skin is permanent.

Makeup is not.

How Does IPL Work?

Lumenis Stellar M22

By using both IPL and ResurFXTM technologies, both skin pigmentation and texture can be treated at the same session.

Lumenis® IPL technology removes both unwanted pigmentation and blood vessels from the skin, while the ResurFXTM fractional laser stimulates the production of new collagen and elastic fibers in the deeper layers of the skin.

Stimulating new collagen production is the key to a more radiant, youthful looking skin.

Other M22 Treatment Modalities Include:

  • Acne Solution

  • Opitma IPL for Rosacea

  • Photofractional

  • Treatment of Stretchmarks

Ideal Candidate

Typically anyone who is experiencing surface irregularities such as brown or dark spots from sun damage or scars, redness, or broken capillaries. Lumenis energy-based treatments are not suitable for everyone and carry some risks. PhotoFractional is not suitable when you have active infections, viral, fungal or bacterial diseases, inflammatory skin conditions or skin cancer. Be sure to consult with your treatment provider before choosing this treatment.

Is this treatment painful?

You may experience a warm or prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable.

How do I prepare?

No required time to rest or heal means no social downtime. There may be some redness and swelling right after the procedure and the following few days. Typically, your provider will advise you to wear sunblock and stay out of the sun for a few days. Check with your provider about wearing makeup the next day.
